Takeaway(s): —There needs to be good guys with guns at every venue. Incident Preventable Factor(s): —Venue Lacked Armed Individuals/Personnel – Venue Lacked Armed Individuals (Civilians)/Personnel (Military/Police/Security): We say it early and often, but there needs to be good guys with guns at every venue. Certainly in workplaces with more than 10 workers which was not the case in this case. Editor’s Note: While cumbersome and generally not perceived as being necessary, employers need to evaluate remote location employee termination practices and/or having armed police or security personnel present. Employee termination, which is job loss to the worker, is a major, and potentially catastrophic event, and as such must always be treated with the utmost level of proactiveness. Employers must understand that job loss is ranked very high as a traumatic life event. Employee terminations aren’t just another item on your to-do list and employee termination meetings aren’t just another ho hum rendezvous with a subordinate. Employers must take the time to evaluate every employee termination in terms of its worse potential for violence and act accordingly. Source(s): None.
