Mass Shootings – Why Bother?

Mass shootings in the United States have become as common as “Baseball, Hot Dogs, and Apple Pie” or whatever version of that you subscribe to.

We aren’t going to stop the next mass shooting anymore than we’re going to stop the sun from rising tomorrow.

There are currently more firearms in this land of the free than there are people (somewhere North of 400 million at last count) and there’s plenty more being manufactured and sold on a daily basis, not to mention the newest phenomena, the production of ghost guns.

That coupled with hate (which is sometimes justified) and/or mental illness which is increasingly plunging some of us deep into the darkness, means that the two (a gun or guns and a wayward mind) will inevitably connect and once again there will be another mass shooting.

No, I don’t have (you know I don’t) a crystal ball or anything like that, but as long as a lot of very troubled Americans are in the midst of so many firearms some of them are going to become trigger-happy.

So, stop hoping it stops and/or trying to stop it, instead follow the Boy Scout Motto, “Be Prepared.”
